What Voice are You Listening To?

We listen to so many voices but, the most important is God’s still voice through His Word. The Holy Spirit will bring it to your remembrance when summoned.

Every day we are bombarded by voices… happy voices, crying voices, thankful voices, voices of criticism, doubt, complaints, dissension, distraction and deception.

This choice is yours. What voice will you hear and believe? Will they be voices of emotion only or based on the truth of God’s word.

Paul prays an important prayer for the saints at Colossae in the first chapter of Colossians…”that you be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all wisdom and Spiritual understanding.” He prays also that they will be …” increasing in the knowledge of God”.

Have you paid attention to what you are listening to? The Scripture says “as a man thinketh, so is he”. Our thought life dictates our actions. Have you ever heard some people talking and wondered “what are they thinking”? What we allow to penetrate our minds, roots and grows us into who we become.

When the woman with the issue of blood for 12 long years touched Jesus’ garment, he asked “who touched me?” He knew who touched him but, he wanted her to confess within herself His mighty majesty and power in her healing.

Paul puts it most aptly in Philippians 4:8: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
